In her role as Senior Conservation Writer, Sylvia works with California conservation staff to develop written content in service of a variety of internal and external-facing business needs. She advances communication strategies and with Development and Marketing content teams to advance the overall goals for the California Chapter, the Pacific Division, and the global organization. Before taking on this role, Sylvia served as Associate Director of Donor Communications, where she served as a writer and editor for corporate and foundation donor materials, coached and supervised team members and advanced strategic decisions, processes and products, and special projects for key individual and institutional donors.
Prior to returning to TNC, Sylvia worked as an independent writer, editor, and project manager on a range of multi-media conservation products geared towards various audiences. Sylvia held previous positions with the San Diego Audubon Society and the Wildlife Conservation Society. She first began at TNC as Program Manager for Conservation Science and Planning in the California Chapter. Sylvia holds a B.S. from U.C. Berkeley in Conservation and Resource Studies, and an M.S. in Environmental Science from the Yale School of the Environment.
What Sylvia is working on now:
After working with program directors to develop foundational written content about the California Land, Water, Oceans, and Climate programs, I am continuing to work with conservation, development, and marketing staff to advance communications strategies and products for conservation program, science, strategy, and project teams.
